Ethan’s story is one of heartbreak, hope, and the lifesaving power of compassionate veterinary care.
In January 2021, Ethan, a two-year-old Cane Corso, was found in a state of extreme starvation and abandoned at the Kentucky Humane Society. He was immediately taken to Jefferson Animal Hospital, where his condition was critical. Ethan was unable to stand, dangerously weak, suffering from seizures, and showing neurological symptoms caused by severe neglect and starvation.
At first, medical professionals were unsure if Ethan would survive the night. His body had experienced extreme protein loss, dehydration, and malnutrition. But from the moment he arrived, the hospital team refused to give up on him.
The staff provided round-the-clock care, comfort, and medical support. They treated his seizures, helped stabilize his body, addressed his dehydration and malnutrition, and began the long process of helping him regain strength. Some team members even slept beside him in his cage, offering comfort during the most fragile stage of his recovery.
With time, patience, and dedicated treatment, Ethan began to improve. He started eating on his own, his seizures stopped, and he slowly regained enough strength to stand. His recovery was made possible through the combined efforts of Jefferson Animal Hospital and the Kentucky Humane Society, along with the compassion of everyone who cared for him.
Although Ethan still had sores and lingering health concerns when he was released back to the Kentucky Humane Society, his progress was remarkable. He continued to receive the care and attention he needed, and his story quickly became an unforgettable example of resilience.
Today, Ethan has found his forever home and is doing fantastic. Most of his neurological symptoms have resolved, and his recovery is nothing short of amazing.
Ethan Almighty is more than a rescue story. It is a reminder of what is possible when skilled veterinary professionals, animal welfare teams, and compassionate people come together to give an animal a second chance.
